Statement from Greece on Turkey: 'We support its EU progress'
Greek Foreign Minister Gerapetritis stated that his country supports Turkey's progress on its EU path. Gerapetritis will also meet with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis stated that his country supports Turkey's progress on its path toward the European Union (EU).
According to a report by AA, Gerapetritis, speaking to journalists before the informal European Union (EU) Foreign Ministers Meeting held in Brussels, pointed to the importance of Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan's participation in today's meeting.
Gerapetritis noted that the participation of a Turkish Foreign Minister in this meeting after a 5-year hiatus is of critical importance.
'CYPRUS' TALKS WITH FİDAN
Emphasizing that the meeting would be an opportunity to discuss Turkey-Europe relations, Gerapetritis said, "Greece is fundamentally in favor of Turkey's European progress."
Gerapetritis expressed that he finds the efforts to restart negotiations for the resolution of the Cyprus issue under the initiative of the United Nations (UN) to be extremely important, and stated that they would address these issues in a bilateral meeting with Fidan within the framework of the meeting held in Brussels today.
