Statement from Russia following election results in Hungary

In a statement to the Russian press, Lavrov evaluated the results of the general election held in Hungary yesterday.

Responding to the question, "What is Russia's expectation regarding Hungary's new administration?" Lavrov said the following:

"We would like to see the actions the new administration will take.

We want to establish equal, mutually beneficial, and balanced relations with any country. We are ready to establish relations with the new government (in Hungary). Everything depends on how the new government understands its own national interests."

According to data from the National Election Office (NVI) of Hungary, approximately 99 percent of the ballot boxes in the general election held yesterday have been opened.

According to the election results, the Respect and Freedom Party (Tisza), led by Peter Magyar, won 136 of the 199 seats in parliament, while the Fidesz Party, led by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, secured 56 seats.
