Statement on '6 billion dollars' from Iranian negotiation team member Nabavian

Mahmoud Nabavian, a member of the Iranian negotiation team, made a statement regarding the negotiations held between the US and Iran in Pakistan. Nabavian stated that during the talks, the US had two main demands, which were the complete opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the removal of all 60 percent enriched material in Iran from the country.

Nabavian conveyed that the head of the delegation, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said during the meetings that although the US has the capacity to strike Iran's infrastructure, Iran could also "destroy all infrastructure in the region in less than half a day."

Stating that the US said 6 billion dollars of frozen assets would be released if Iran complied with the demands, Nabavian said, "After contacting Trump, (US Vice President) Vance proposed that the negotiations continue according to the plan presented by the US, and Ghalibaf accepted this. However, Vance suddenly announced that Trump would not accept the deal."

The US and Iran held talks in the capital Islamabad on April 11-12 with the mediation of Pakistan following the attacks launched by the US on February 28, but a final agreement could not be reached on critical issues such as the Strait of Hormuz and the nuclear program.
