Striking PKK report from Swiss intelligence: 'Recruiting Kurdish refugees...'

The Swiss Federal Intelligence Service has published its latest situation report titled "Switzerland's Security 2024."

The report draws attention to the fact that the terrorist organization PKK continues its activities in Europe.

The report states, "The PKK is secretly raising money, conducting propaganda, and organizing training camps in Switzerland, just as it does elsewhere."

The report, which states that the PKK conducts terrorist organization propaganda among young people, also notes that the organization recruits selected individuals to fight "against the Turkish army" in the future.

The report indicates that pro-PKK so-called cultural associations are trying to recruit newly arrived "Kurdish refugees" and use them in line with the PKK's goals.

The report, which includes the statement, "The PKK occasionally cooperates with members of violent left-wing extremist groups," notes that the terrorist organization PKK is expected to continue its clandestine activities.

The report states, "Turkish missions and institutions, such as community centers and mosques, are potential targets for the PKK."

The report also emphasizes that the security situation in Switzerland is deteriorating every year.

Stating that a dangerous and volatile period is being experienced due to the transition of global power relations to a new order, the report notes that it is unclear how long this will last.

Emphasizing that a highly polarized environment has emerged in Europe and its surroundings, characterized by numerous simultaneous crises and armed conflicts, the report states, "Switzerland is significantly less secure than it was a few years ago."

The report notes that the Russia-Ukraine War, which has been ongoing since February 2022, has turned into a "war of attrition with no end in sight."

Stating that Russia is determined to continue the war, the report notes that it has become politically more difficult for the US and Europe to provide the vital aid Ukraine needs, which means that time is currently working in Russia's favor.

The report notes that events in Gaza under Israeli attacks since Hamas's October 7, 2023, attacks have caused major "shock waves" for the Middle East, while also stating that Israel has intensified its attacks against Hezbollah in Lebanon since October 2024, challenging Iran and its regional strategy.

Underlining that the greatest current espionage threat to Switzerland comes from Russian intelligence services, the report also points out that the threat posed by Chinese intelligence services is high.

Noting that numerous services maintain secret bases in Switzerland known as residences, the report states that these generally operate within diplomatic missions.

The report notes that the terrorist threat in Switzerland remains high and became even more pronounced in 2024.

Emphasizing that violent far-right and left-wing groups continue their activities as normal, the report states that the threat posed by these groups has stabilized at a high level.
