Striking statement from Egypt regarding the ceasefire in Gaza

Egyptian media outlets Al-Qahera News and Extra News reported that Egyptian and Qatari authorities are making intensive efforts in their discussions with all parties with the goal of reaching a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

In a written statement, the Hamas movement announced that serious and positive talks for a ceasefire took place in Qatar today, and that an agreement could be reached if Israel refrains from putting forward new conditions.

ISRAELI PRESS: WE ARE CLOSE TO A CEASEFIRE AGREEMENT

On the other hand, according to Israeli army radio, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz announced in a statement today that they are "quite close to a prisoner exchange and ceasefire agreement with Hamas."

Stating that "our first goal in the war is the return of the hostages," Katz said they support reaching an agreement, even if it is partial, and that they will do everything to bring the hostages back.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar also noted that he supports a prisoner exchange agreement with Hamas.

According to Channel 12, Saar said, "I support a deal to bring the hostages back; I think this is also the desire of the majority of the Israeli people."
