Suspicious package alert in Washington: 'Caused panic'
A suspicious package sent to the Republican National Committee (RNC) headquarters in Washington, D.C., the capital of the U.S., caused panic.
According to reports in U.S. media, access to the RNC's headquarters in the capital was temporarily halted due to a package reported to contain vials filled with blood.
Following the evacuation of the building, a rapid security sweep was conducted.
After police announced a short time later that there was "no issue," employees were permitted to return to the RNC headquarters.
NO OFFICIAL STATEMENT
No official statement has been made regarding the package, which was delivered by mail.
The yellow police tape that had been placed around the street where the headquarters is located during the investigation was removed, and traffic was allowed to resume.
