Syrian government statement on As-Suwayda: A special force will be deployed
In a statement regarding the clashes in As-Suwayda, the Syrian Presidency stated, "Competent authorities are working to end the clashes and deploy a special force to resolve the conflict on the ground, while simultaneously working to restore stability through political and security measures and ensure the city returns to peace as soon as possible."
A statement was issued by the Syrian Presidency regarding the clashes in As-Suwayda. The statement noted that the events in As-Suwayda are being followed with deep concern, stating, "These groups have used weapons as a means of creating a fait accompli, directly endangering the lives of civilians, including children, women, and the elderly. Attacking families, terrorizing children, and entering people's homes to violate their dignity is a situation that is rejected and condemned by every moral, legal, and humanitarian standard. Such actions cannot be accepted under any pretext."
The statement, which emphasized that respecting civilians and ensuring their safety is a national duty, continued, "Any violation of these values is a blow to the core of society and a threat to national unity. The Syrian Arab Republic builds its stance on these events not on the logic of revenge, but on the principle of ensuring social peace and tranquility. It does not respond to chaos with chaos; it protects the law with the law, and responds to aggression with justice, not with vengeance."
"THIS STATE BELONGS NEITHER SOLELY TO THE DRUZE COMMUNITY NOR ONLY TO THE BEDOUINS"
Emphasizing that Syria is the state of all its citizens, the statement said, "This state belongs neither solely to the Druze community nor only to the Bedouins. National responsibility requires everyone to be together under the same roof, the roof of the homeland, and with a common reference: the law. In light of these developments, the Syrian Arab Republic calls on all parties to exercise restraint and common sense, and emphasizes that it is making intensive efforts to stop violations that threaten the safety of citizens and the stability of society. Competent authorities are working to end the clashes and deploy a special force to resolve the conflict on the ground, while simultaneously working to restore stability through political and security measures and ensure the city returns to peace as soon as possible."
The statement, which also included a call for unity, concluded, "The Syrian Arab Republic calls on all the wise and responsible children of this country to join hands to overcome this difficult process, to refrain from calls that escalate tension, and to work together to protect the rich social fabric that has kept Syria standing for centuries."
