Talks for the 2nd phase of the ceasefire in Gaza begin: Israel and Hamas to meet

It has been reported that negotiations between Hamas and Israel to extend the ceasefire in Gaza, where Israel has continued its attacks since October 7, 2023, will resume. According to statements from Hamas officials, representatives from both sides will meet in Doha, the capital of Qatar, to discuss the second phase of the ceasefire, the first phase of which was completed on March 1.

Israel has not yet made an official statement regarding Hamas's claim. Hamas stated that it would release 4 Israeli hostages before the talks for the second phase of the ceasefire begin.

Five Arab countries—Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Qatar—noted that they have submitted a plan they prepared for the reconstruction of Gaza to the US special envoy, Steve Witkoff. Arab foreign ministers stated that this plan would contribute to ensuring stability in the region. Hamas announced that it welcomed US President Donald Trump's decision to abandon his statements regarding the removal of Palestinians from Gaza.

The Gaza Ministry of Health announced that 48 thousand 515 Palestinians have lost their lives and 111 thousand 941 people have been injured in Israel's attacks. The Gaza Government Media Office estimates that thousands of people remain under the rubble, bringing the total death toll to over 61 thousand 700. On the Israeli side, it was reported that 1139 people lost their lives in the October 7, 2023 attacks, and more than 200 people were taken hostage.
