Talks begin in Paris for AI coalition

State leaders, technology companies, and investors from more than 80 countries who came to Paris to attend the AI Action Summit discussed the future of artificial intelligence. The main goals of the summit included diversifying the AI ecosystem, increasing infrastructure investments, and establishing a sustainable AI coalition.

French President Emmanuel Macron stated in his opening speech at the summit that while artificial intelligence offers great opportunities, it also raises concerns, and he expressed the following:

'Artificial intelligence is of critical importance for strategic independence. This summit is an important step toward developing reliable artificial intelligence and sharing its benefits globally.'

Macron noted that topics such as AI governance, its integration into the business sector, and its use in the fields of culture and innovation would be addressed during the summit. He also stated that they would encourage foreign companies to increase their investments in France.

At the summit, a new organization to be headquartered in Paris is expected to be announced with the aim of diversifying the AI ecosystem. Additionally, talks were held to form a sustainable AI coalition between companies and states. It was emphasized that the coalition aims to facilitate the integration of AI into the business sector and to develop reliable artificial intelligence on a global scale.

It was reported that the leaders gathered in Paris would determine a roadmap for the use of AI in a way that contributes to the development of children. In this context, information was shared that the goal is to use AI technologies in a way that respects the well-being and rights of children.

AI INITIATIVE FROM FRANCE

Within the scope of an agreement made with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) prior to the summit, it was decided to establish an AI-focused technology campus in France. It was announced that the UAE would invest more than 30 billion euros in this campus. The French Ministry of Education announced that AI training will be provided to 7th and 9th-grade students starting from the new academic year.

Macron emphasized that Europe needs a strategic awakening in the field of artificial intelligence and expressed the following:

'We aim to train 100 thousand researchers and establish 35 data centers by 2030. We must not fear innovation.'

The summit was attended by figures such as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and US Vice President James David Vance. Additionally, representatives of tech giants such as Microsoft, OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, and Sakana AI also took part in the summit. Whether Elon Musk will attend the summit has not yet been clarified.
