Tape of party leader leading in polls emerges

Magyar, who has managed to surpass the ruling Fidesz Party in recent polls, claimed that secret video recordings are intended to be used as a tool for black propaganda in politics.

According to the most recent research in the country, the Tisza Party has reached 35 percent of the vote, placing it ahead of the ruling Fidesz Party (28 percent). During this period, as the election campaign has intensified, Péter Magyar accused his political rivals of smearing him in statements made on his social media account. Magyar stated, "They are planning to release footage, likely fake or recorded with secret service devices, containing an intimate moment between me and my then-girlfriend. I don't know what they aim to achieve with this. But let everyone know that I will not bow to any blackmail."

Magyar stated that the video in question contains footage of himself and Evelin Vogel, with whom he was in a relationship in the past, and that this relationship took place entirely with the consent of two adults. Emphasizing that he has not engaged in any illegal acts, the businessman and politician Magyar linked the motive behind these events to Hungary's political-economic mafia and the international networks he claims support them.

This tape scandal, which emerged shortly before the elections, has sparked reactions across various segments of society. Evelin Vogel, one of the names at the center of these allegations, said in a statement to the Hungarian press, "I am very sad that Péter is accusing me of this and that public life has reached this point. As a woman, I am perhaps the person most affected by this incident. The humiliation of two people in this way would be an unprecedented situation in Hungarian public life."

Vogel categorically denied allegations that she had any connection to any secret service or contributed to the filming of the video. She continued her words by saying, "No sane person could think that I could be involved in this or that I have any connection to any secret service. I have as much information about this video as the public," and stated that she would not hesitate to take legal action if necessary. Vogel stated, "I am ready to initiate the necessary legal proceedings against whoever did this. However, for this to happen, Péter needs to understand that we are both victims of this situation."

DENIED ALLEGATIONS OF DRUG USE

It was also noted that in another statement made earlier, Magyar stated that he had consumed alcohol on the night of the video in question but did not use any narcotic substances. Underlining that his relationship with Evelin Vogel on that night took place with the consent of both parties, the politician argues that the events are being brought to the agenda for political purposes.
