Teacher who racially abused Palestinian child suspended: 'I don't negotiate with terrorists'

The administration of the Central Dauphin School District in Pennsylvania announced on Saturday that a teacher had been removed from their position following allegations that they made derogatory comments toward a student of Palestinian descent during an after-school program last week.

In a statement regarding the matter, the Central Dauphin district administration stated, 'The teacher involved in the alleged incident is on administrative leave until our investigation is complete.'

According to a Reuters report, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) stated that the alleged racist remark occurred after a Palestinian-American student requested to change seats in the classroom, to which the teacher replied, 'I don't negotiate with terrorists.'

The names of the teacher or the student were not disclosed. CAIR reported that it is in contact with the child's parents.

The number of racist attacks in the U.S., including those targeting children, has been increasing recently. These incidents include the attempted drowning of a 3-year-old Palestinian-American girl in Texas and the fatal stabbing of a 6-year-old Palestinian-American child in Illinois.

Other incidents include the stabbing of a Palestinian-American man in Texas, the beating of a Muslim man in New York, an attempted lynching of pro-Palestinian protesters in California, and the shooting of three Palestinian-American students in Vermont.

Following the start of Israel's genocide in Gaza on October 7, 2023, hate crimes against Muslims, Palestinians, and antisemitic incidents have increased in the U.S.
