Tensions escalate: Houthis in Yemen strike US ship

A statement regarding the matter was issued by the Yemen Armed Forces affiliated with the Houthis.

ATTACKED WITH NAVAL MISSILES

The statement included the following: "The naval forces of the Yemeni Armed Forces affiliated with the Houthis carried out a targeting operation against the American ship Genco Picardie in the Gulf of Aden with an appropriate number of naval missiles, and the target was hit directly."

It was noted that the Houthis "will not hesitate to target all sources of threat in the Arabian Sea and the Red Sea as part of Yemen's legitimate right to defense and in continued support of the oppressed Palestinian people."

The statement conveyed that "the response to American and British attacks is inevitably coming, and any new aggression will not remain unanswered or unpunished."

THEY HAD BEEN ADDED TO THE 'TERROR' LIST

The US administration had re-added the Ansar Allah movement, known as the Houthis in Yemen, to the list of "foreign terrorist organizations" due to their attacks in the Red Sea.

White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, in a written statement regarding the addition of the Houthis to the terror list, stated that the Houthis' attacks, which disrupt maritime trade in the Red Sea, also endanger American personnel, and that both the US administration and the international community have responded collectively to these attacks.
