According to reports in Libyan media, flights at Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli have been suspended.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that the Tripoli branch of the Libyan Red Crescent has raised its alert level to maximum, and Tripoli University has once again suspended education.
Social media posts indicate that the clashes are taking place between forces affiliated with the Ministry of Defense and a militia group known as 'Rada'.
In a statement, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) expressed deep concern over the escalating violence in densely populated residential areas of Tripoli over the past two nights and the danger posed to civilian lives.
The statement called for an unconditional ceasefire in all areas where civilians are present and for issues to be resolved through dialogue.

On May 12, reports appeared in Libyan media claiming that Abdulghani al-Kikli, the leader of the Stability Support Apparatus, one of the militia groups in Tripoli, had been killed. Subsequently, footage of clashes between Stability Support Apparatus militants and forces affiliated with the Ministry of Defense was shared on social media.
