Tensions remain high in the Middle East: Israel targets airports in Damascus and Aleppo, Syria

Tensions in the Middle East show no signs of easing following the Al-Aqsa Flood operation launched by the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, against Israel on the morning of October 7.

As the conflicts in the region intensify day by day, a concerning statement has come from Syrian state media.

ISRAEL STRIKES AIRPORTS IN SYRIA

According to a report in Sözcü; the Syrian state agency SANA published statements from the Syrian Ministry of Transport. The statement reported that Israel targeted airports in Damascus and Aleppo, and that these airports have been closed to service.

AIRPORT EMPLOYEE LOST THEIR LIFE

While it was stated that the attacks on the airports were carried out in the early hours of the morning, it was announced that one civilian airport employee lost their life in the Israeli strike.

In the report, which the agency released with a “breaking news” tag, it was stated, “Operations at our airports have ceased due to Israel’s blatant attacks.” Syrian authorities requested that passengers planning to use the airports contact the institutions from which they purchased their tickets.

It was noted that flights were diverted to Latakia Airport due to the attacks on the airports.
