Terrorist organization SDF leader Mazlum Abdi met with Barrack and Barzani
Mazlum Abdi, leader of the SDF, the Syrian branch of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG, met with U.S. Special Envoy for Syria and Ambassador to Ankara Tom Barrack, and subsequently with KRG President Nechirvan Barzani in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq.
Mazlum Abdi, leader of the SDF, the Syrian branch of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG, first met with U.S. Ambassador to Ankara and Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack as part of the ongoing reconciliation process between the Syrian government and the SDF.
Following the meeting, Barrack shared a post on his social media account, delivering significant messages regarding Washington's new strategy in the region, stating, "The U.S. has reaffirmed its strong support for the integration agreement between the SDF and the Syrian government, the draft of which was clearly defined on January 18, and its commitment to strengthening this process."
Barrack emphasized that all parties agreed to fully comply with the existing ceasefire and to take steps to build mutual trust in order to ensure lasting stability.
Abdi also met with KRG President Barzani
Following the meeting between Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) President Nechirvan Barzani and Mazlum Abdi, a statement was issued by the KRG Presidency Press Office. It was reported that during the meeting, Barzani stated that the dialogue between the SDF and the Damascus administration must resume without delay to de-escalate tensions in Syria.
The statement noted that Barzani emphasized he would continue his efforts and contacts with all relevant parties to maintain the ceasefire, control tensions, and ensure the immediate resumption of dialogue between the SDF and Damascus.
Barzani also reaffirmed the importance of guaranteeing and protecting the rights of Kurds and all components under the umbrella of a unified Syria.
