Terrorists kill 16 soldiers in Nigeria: 8 people linked to the incident captured
16 soldiers lost their lives in an operation against terrorists in Nigeria. 8 people suspected of being involved in the incident have been captured.
The Nigeria Police Force announced that 8 people linked to the killing of 16 soldiers, who lost their lives during an operation in Delta State on March 17, have been captured.
Nigerian Police Spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi noted in a written statement that operations are continuing in Delta State in cooperation between the army and the police regarding the incident, that 8 people have been captured, and that investigations are ongoing.
Meanwhile, it was announced that the Ijaw regional king, who was wanted in connection with the attack, has surrendered.
WHAT HAPPENED?
In an attack on peacekeeping soldiers in Nigeria's Delta State on March 17, 16 soldiers, including two majors and a captain, lost their lives.
No information was provided regarding which group carried out the attack.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had issued instructions for the perpetrators to be captured.
Following the attack, the soldiers had conducted an operation in the South Ijaw region, alleging that a militant leader involved in the killing of the soldiers was hiding there.
