Thanks from Özgür Özel to Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez

While expressing his thanks to Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez, who announced that they would recognize the State of Palestine before the summer, Özel also issued a call to social democratic leaders regarding Palestine.

I welcome the announcement by my dear friend, the Prime Minister of Spain and President of the Socialist International, Pedro Sanchez, that they will recognize the State of Palestine before the summer months.

I reiterate my call to all social democratic leaders to recognize Palestine and stand with Palestine.

SANCHEZ'S PALESTINE STATEMENT

Announcing that the joint decision taken with the prime ministers of Ireland, Malta, and Slovenia to recognize the Palestinian state, provided that the right conditions are met, will be implemented before the summer, Sanchez stated that his country would first take the decision to recognize the Palestinian state in the Council of Ministers and then submit it to Parliament.

Sanchez emphasized that he believes the only way to guarantee peace and security in the region during the open war between Israel and Hamas is the recognition of Palestine.
