The hat that 'unites' Canadians: 'Canada is not for sale'
Following Donald Trump's threats against Canada, Ontario Premier Doug Ford appeared before cameras wearing a hat that read 'Canada is not for sale.' The slogan has become popular among Canadians.
New US President Donald Trump had expressed his desire to annex Canada into US territory. In response to Trump's 'expansionist' stance, Canadians have begun to react. Ontario Premier Doug Ford, one of Canada's largest provinces, appeared before cameras in a press interview wearing a hat that read 'Canada is not for sale.' Canadians have shown great interest in the hats, which a manufacturer has begun mass-producing.
Liam Mooney, the founder of an Ottawa-based design firm, designed a hat with 'Canada Not For Sale' written on it in response to Trump's tariff threats and his suggestions that Canada should become the 51st US state.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford wore the hat last week during a meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other provincial premiers to discuss Trump's promise to impose tariffs on Canada. The hat drew the attention of Canadians after Ford wore it.
The Canadian press interpreted the image of Ford provided to the media as ''challenging Trump.''

TENS OF THOUSANDS OF HATS SOLD IN ONE WEEK
In his statement, Mooney noted that he designed the hats as a creative response to Trump's rhetoric, aiming to change the 'negative' public perception created about Canada by sending messages of 'nationalism' and 'unity.'
Speaking to Reuters, Mooney provided information that tens of thousands of hats have been sold since that date.
Mooney said, 'This is an opportunity to bring people from all walks of civil society together, regardless of political views.'
