The Putin decision that left its mark on the G20!

Many issues were discussed at the G20 Leaders' Summit, which began yesterday in India.

The joint declaration was approved with the signatures of all participants. While the declaration thanked Turkey for its contribution to the grain deal, the condemnation of the war in Ukraine without mentioning Russia by name was perceived as an effort by G20 countries to strike a balance.

Indian Prime Minister Modi officially handed over the G20 presidency to Brazil by passing the presidential gavel to Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

From Silva came a statement on Putin that entered the world's agenda at the top spot.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) had issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin on the grounds that he committed war crimes in Ukraine, and the Russian leader's foreign trips had almost come to a complete halt following this decision.

The Brazilian leader announced his decision on Putin to the world. Speaking to the Firstpost news program on the sidelines of the G20 meeting in New Delhi, Lula said that Putin would be invited to next year's event.

Lula added that if Putin attends the meeting to be held in Rio de Janeiro next year, he will not be arrested in Brazil.

In his statement, Lula said, 'I believe Putin can go to Brazil easily. What I can tell you is that if I am the president of Brazil and he comes to Brazil, there is no way he will be arrested.'

PRAISE FROM RUSSIA FOR THE G20 DECLARATION

Russia praised the G20 summit declaration, which avoided directly criticizing Moscow over the war in Ukraine, saying that G20 leaders acted in favor of resolving the dispute.

Russia's G20 Sherpa Svetlana Lukash emphasized the importance of the BRICS countries within the G20 and made the following assessment;

'First of all, the collective position of the BRICS countries and their partners worked, everything was reflected in a balanced way.'

GREEN LIGHT FOR THE AFRICAN UNION

On the other hand, Modi announced that the leaders of the G20 countries had reached a consensus on granting the African Union (AU) permanent member status within the G20. In his opening speech at the summit, Modi said, 'I invite the representative of the African Union to take their seat as a permanent member of the G20.'
