There may be another hidden layer in Earth's inner core: A discovery that could change textbooks

Recent geological research has opened a new door into the understanding of Earth's internal structure. The possibility of a hidden layer deep within the inner core, beyond the four known main layers, has captured the attention of scientists. Stephenson said, 'We have found significant evidence that the inner core may consist of two distinct layers.'

The geophysics expert further added:

'Traditionally, we learned that the Earth consists of four main layers: the crust, the mantle, the outer core, and the inner core... This discovery is extremely exciting. We may need to rewrite the textbooks!'
