The Republic of South Africa has announced that its citizens who leave the country to join the Israeli army will be detained upon their return.

South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Naledi Pandor announced at an event she attended that citizens who join the Israeli army will be detained and interrogated upon their return.
According to a report by The Times of Israel, Minister Pandor spoke about South African citizens who have joined the Israel Defense Forces during a solidarity event for Palestine organized by the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party.
Pandor stated, "I have issued a statement alerting those who are South African and who are fighting alongside or in the Israel Defense Forces: We are ready to arrest you when you come home."
The Republic of South Africa had filed a case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), alleging that it violated the 1948 United Nations (UN) Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
