Threat from Russia to Germany: 'This step is direct involvement in the war'

Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Vassily Nebenzia, reacted sharply to the possibility of Germany sending Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. Nebenzia said that this move would directly involve Germany in the Ukraine-Russia war.

Responding to questions from an AA reporter, Nebenzia gave a clear "Yes, it would" answer to the question, "If Germany provides Taurus missiles to Ukraine, would it be considered directly involved in the war?"

''WAR IS BEING WAGED AGAINST RUSSIA THROUGH PROXY FORCES''

Nebenzia argued that not only Germany, but many Western countries are effectively involved in the Ukraine crisis. Claiming that these countries are waging a proxy war against Russia through Ukraine, Nebenzia said, "If Germany also provides Taurus missiles, this would be a new step that would escalate tensions."

Evaluating the US threat to use military force against Iran, Nebenzia stated that Washington prioritizes a political solution in its statements. The Russian diplomat, stating that they also adopt this approach, expressed that this tension should not be escalated.

''A CEASEFIRE IS NO LONGER REALISTIC''

Nebenzia recalled that after the phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump on March 18, a proposal for a partial ceasefire regarding energy infrastructure was brought to the agenda.

Stating that Russia supported this ceasefire and gave instructions to its army in this direction, Nebenzia said that Ukraine did not comply with this ceasefire despite its public statements of support.

Noting that Ukraine has carried out more than 120 attacks on Russian energy facilities, Nebenzia said, "At this point, it is not realistic to talk about a ceasefire."

''STOP ARMING UKRAINE''

The Russian diplomat interpreted Ukraine's attacks as an indication that it does not want peace. Expressing that Western countries should put pressure on Ukraine, Nebenzia called on European countries in particular to end arms shipments to Ukraine.
