Tornado disaster in the US: 2 people lost their lives
Two people have died and many others were injured as tornadoes struck the US states of Texas and Mississippi. The disaster caused power outages in thousands of homes.
The US states of Texas and Mississippi have been shaken by the impact of severe tornadoes. According to statements from the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and the Texas Brazoria County Sheriff's Office, 2 people lost their lives and many others were injured due to the tornadoes and storms.
POWER OUTAGES OCCURRED
Roofs were blown off dozens of homes in the region, and significant structural damage occurred. Widespread power outages were experienced as trees fell onto power lines.
According to the "PowerOutage.us" platform, which tracks power outages, more than 55 thousand subscribers in Mississippi, 17 thousand in Alabama, and 21 thousand in Georgia were left without electricity.
The National Weather Service (NWS) stated that the tornadoes are moving toward Alabama and that the states of Georgia and Florida are also at high risk of being affected by severe weather events. Search and rescue efforts are ongoing in the disaster-stricken areas.
