Tourist submarine sinks in the Red Sea: Multiple fatalities reported
It has been reported that multiple people have lost their lives after a tourist submarine sank in the Red Sea off the coast of Egypt. Egyptian authorities stated that there were 44 people on board the submarine, which belongs to the tourism company Sindbad, and announced that 29 people have been rescued so far. Search and rescue operations are reportedly ongoing.
It has been announced that a submarine belonging to the Sindbad company, which was carrying tourists, sank near a port outside the Egyptian tourist resort of Hurghada. It was stated that the submarine, which serves tourists wishing to see the coral reefs in the region, was carrying 44 tourists. Authorities indicated that search and rescue teams managed to pull 29 people alive from the submarine.
Local sources stated that 29 people were rescued alive and that 9 injured individuals were reached. It was reported that the bodies of 6 people have been recovered so far. Authorities announced that search and rescue operations are continuing.
According to SVT, it has been determined that at least six people have died and nine others have been injured. Information was provided that there were approximately 40 people on board the submarine. It was stated that the Egyptian Navy has been dispatched to the region to support the search and rescue efforts.

The Sindbad submarine had been transporting tourists in the Hurghada region for several years. During the tours, tourists were taken to a depth of 25 meters below the sea. The company provided tourists with the opportunity to observe coral reefs and other marine life.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that they have begun efforts to collect information regarding the identities and nationalities of the individuals who were on the submarine.
