Trade ban move against Israel! It will be the first country to do so
Ireland has become the first among European Union countries to take steps toward imposing a trade ban on Israel.
Ireland has placed a bill on its agenda aimed at halting trade with Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Harris stated in Dublin that this initiative serves as a gesture of support for the Palestinian people.
'WE WILL BE THE FIRST COUNTRY'
Expressing that Ireland has taken a clear stance against the humanitarian situation in Gaza, Harris said, 'We will be the first country in Europe to present to the cabinet a law banning trade with occupied Palestinian territories. This means Ireland is raising its voice against acts of genocide. Our hope is that this law will encourage other countries to take similar steps.'
The bill aims to completely ban the import of products manufactured in illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank and trade conducted with these regions.
Once the law enters into force, products from these settlements will not be able to enter the Irish market. Harris emphasized that this step should not be limited to Ireland and that it is important for other countries to adopt similar decisions.
