TRNC Prime Minister Üstel: Our search and rescue efforts continue uninterrupted

TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel returned to the port after attending a funeral following his on-site inspection of the search and rescue efforts conducted at Kyrenia Port earlier in the day. Meeting with the relatives of the missing persons waiting at Kyrenia Port, Üstel provided the families with the latest information regarding the ongoing search and rescue operations.

Emphasizing that reaching the missing persons is the state's highest priority, Üstel said, "Our greatest priority is to reach our missing people. Our efforts will continue with the same determination throughout the night, just as they have during the day."

"Search and rescue operations are continuing 24/7"

Stating that the operations launched following the maritime disaster off the coast of Kyrenia are being carried out with the strong support of Turkey and the participation of all relevant units, Üstel emphasized that the activities are continuing uninterrupted on a 24/7 basis.

Providing information about the operations to be conducted during the night, Üstel stated that search and rescue and imaging activities will continue without pause, adding, "8 ships, 9 boats, 1 aircraft, 7 helicopters, and 5 UAVs will be on duty for the search and rescue and imaging activities to be carried out tonight."

"A special search vessel is coming from Turkey"

Announcing that the search and rescue capacity will be further increased, Üstel reported that a special vessel with deep-sea search capabilities from Turkey is expected to reach the region tomorrow. Noting that the vessel in question can operate at depths of up to 1,000 meters, Üstel said, "In order to further strengthen our search and rescue capacity, a special search vessel from Turkey, which has deep-sea search capabilities and can operate at depths of up to 1,000 meters, is expected to reach the region tomorrow."

"Civil maritime voyages resume tomorrow"

TRNC Prime Minister Üstel announced that the necessary arrangements regarding the disrupted normal civil maritime transport following the maritime disaster have also been completed. Stating that civil maritime voyages will resume starting tomorrow, Üstel noted that regulations have also been made to protect the rights of citizens who were unable to travel despite having purchased tickets due to the incident. Üstel stated, "The work carried out by the relevant ministry to ensure that citizens who could not travel despite having purchased tickets due to the incident do not suffer has been completed. The necessary regulation change to protect the ticket rights of these citizens was passed today, and the problem has been resolved."

"We will not stop at night"

Emphasizing that search and rescue activities will be carried out with determination until the missing persons are reached, TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said, "We will not stop at night. We will continue to be in the field with all our resources to reach our missing people."
