Trump accuses former US President Obama of coup attempt

US President Donald Trump answered questions from members of the press following his meeting with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at the White House. Stating that the US and the Philippines are very close to reaching a trade agreement, the US President told Marcos, "We are doing a lot of business with you. I was surprised to see such numbers. They are truly huge numbers, and they will grow even more with what we are proposing."

"HE INVITED ME TO CHINA"

When asked by reporters about the possibility of a visit to China in the near future, Trump stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping had invited him to China, adding, "I will probably meet with him soon."

CALLED FED CHAIR A 'BLOCKHEAD'

During the meeting at the White House, Trump also directed harsh criticism at US Federal Reserve (FED) Chair Jerome Powell for not lowering interest rates. Saying that Powell likely refuses to lower interest rates for political reasons, Trump said, "I think he did a bad job. But he will be gone soon anyway. His term will expire in eight months." Insulting the FED Chair by calling him a "blockhead," Trump said that interest rates should be at least 3 points lower.

ACCUSED OBAMA OF TREASON AND COUP ATTEMPT

When asked who the US Department of Justice should target first following a report accusing high-level officials from the Obama administration of a "conspiracy amounting to treason," Trump said, "The ringleader of the gang was Obama. Barack Hussein Obama, you've heard of him. Although he has been protected by the press his entire life. He is guilty, there is no question about it. You know, I would like to say 'let's leave it to time,' but the situation is clear. He is guilty. This is treason against the country. Every kind of crime you can think of. They tried to steal the election."

"THE GREATEST SCANDAL IN OUR COUNTRY'S HISTORY"

Accusing Obama of leading a gang that included former President Joe Biden, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former FBI Director James Comey, former US Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, and former CIA Director John Brennan, Trump alleged that this group fabricated false accusations that he had colluded with Russia. Calling on the Department of Justice to prosecute Obama, Trump said, "There is indisputable evidence that Obama was involved in treason. Obama was trying to lead a coup attempt. He did this with Hillary Clinton and others. But Obama was at the head of them. Everything is clearly written in the documents. This is the greatest scandal in the history of our country."

The report referred to by Trump was released last Friday by US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, and in the report, the Obama administration was accused of producing false intelligence that Russia intervened in the 2016 elections in favor of Trump.
