Trump announces a historic agreement has been reached in Gaza

A notable statement regarding efforts for lasting peace in Gaza has come from US President Donald Trump. In a message posted on his Truth social media platform, Trump announced that a "historic" agreement has been reached for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all armed groups in Gaza as a result of the Peace Council's efforts.

Describing the development as "a tremendous step toward lasting peace and security in Gaza," Trump stated, "This agreement is a critical step toward Gaza finally being governed by a new Palestinian government that will work in close cooperation with the Peace Council to help the Palestinian people. At the same time, with Gaza no longer being used as a base for terrorist attacks, Israel will also achieve the security it deserves."

"An important turning point in the Peace Plan"

Emphasizing that the reached agreement is an "important turning point" in the implementation of the "20-Point Gaza Peace Plan" initiated under his leadership, Trump said, "The agreement will be implemented in carefully structured phases. As disarmament is completed, Israeli forces will withdraw, and the International Stabilization Force will work alongside a new Palestinian police force to assume responsibility for the security of Gaza."

"We have made historic progress"

Recalling that a violent war and humanitarian crisis were taking place in Gaza one year ago, and that hostages were being held, Trump assessed, "We have made historic progress, and we still have much work to do." Not forgetting the countries that contributed to the process, Trump said, "I want to thank the mediators Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey for their significant efforts, and my extraordinary team for working tirelessly to make this historic breakthrough possible." Trump added, "The threat that emerged from Gaza on October 7 will not be allowed to re-emerge. Under this agreement, Gaza will finally be in the hands of a new Palestinian government that serves its people. I congratulate everyone on this incredible development that was once seen as impossible to achieve."
