Trump announces deployment of nuclear submarines
U.S. President Donald Trump, commenting on the Russia-Ukraine war in response to statements by Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Medvedev, said: "In light of Medvedev's remarks, and against the possibility that these words are not just words but something more, I have ordered two nuclear submarines to be deployed to appropriate regions."
U.S. President Donald Trump responded to Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev's statement regarding "Soviet-era nuclear strike capabilities," saying: "In light of Medvedev's highly provocative statements, I have ordered two nuclear submarines to be deployed to appropriate regions."
U.S. President Donald Trump moved to act following remarks made yesterday by Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, who said "Moscow possesses Soviet-era last-resort nuclear strike capabilities." In a post on his own social media platform Truth Social, President Trump said: "In light of the highly provocative statements made by former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who serves as Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, and against the possibility that these foolish and provocative words are not merely words, I have ordered two nuclear submarines to be deployed to appropriate regions. Words matter greatly and can often lead to unintended consequences; I hope this will not be one of those situations. Thank you for your attention to this matter."
"THIS IS BIDEN'S WAR, NOT TRUMP'S"
In a separate statement, Trump said he had received information that approximately 20,000 Russian soldiers had been killed in the war with Ukraine this month, adding: "Russia has lost 112 thousand 500 soldiers since the beginning of the year. That is far too many and unnecessary deaths! At the same time, Ukraine has also suffered greatly. They have lost approximately 8,000 soldiers since January 1, 2025, and that number does not include their casualties. Ukraine has also lost civilians, albeit in smaller numbers, due to Russian rockets falling on Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine. This is a war that should never have happened. This is Biden's war, not 'Trump's.' I am only here to see if I can stop it."
Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, in a statement directed at U.S. President Donald Trump yesterday, had said that "Trump should remember that Moscow possesses Soviet-era last-resort nuclear strike capabilities."
