Trump announces 'Golden Dome Missile Defense System'

U.S. President Donald Trump announced at a press conference held at the White House that they would establish a new defense system called the "Golden Dome." Under the project, a multi-layered, integrated, and space-supported defense architecture will be built against all types of missile threats directed at U.S. territory. Trump emphasized that the system is not only a defense measure but also a "historic move" for the U.S. in terms of technology, industry, economy, and foreign policy.

Trump stated that the Golden Dome would have the capability to intercept threats launched from land, sea, and space. The system will utilize integrated sensors and interception technologies against hypersonic missiles, advanced cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

It was stated that the system would be able to intervene in real-time with radars and artificial intelligence-supported tracking systems, and could destroy enemy missiles within or outside the atmosphere. Trump argued that the system would significantly reduce the risk of attacks on American soil, stating, "Think about it, you can hit bullets in the air. This technology is far beyond anything done before."

A LEGACY FROM REAGAN

Trump noted that the inspiration for the project was the "Strategic Defense Initiative" proposed by President Ronald Reagan in the 1980s, which could not be implemented due to technological limitations. "That technology didn't exist back then. Now we have the capacity to realize it," Trump said, adding that this vision is finally being completed 40 years later.

"INTEGRATION IS POSSIBLE"

Trump stated that Canada also wants to join this project and that negotiations will begin. There is speculation that if Canada takes part in the system, other NATO allies could also join the integration process. It is assessed that this situation will shape U.S. missile defense not only on a national level but also on a global scale.

WILL REACH UP TO 175 BILLION DOLLARS

Trump announced that an initial $25 billion has been allocated for the construction of the Golden Dome, with the total system expected to cost approximately $175 billion. The project's budget has been secured through the "Dome Act," which was approved by the Senate Armed Services Committee. Trump emphasized that all components of the system will be manufactured in the U.S., which he noted would provide significant contributions to the defense industry and the technology sector. In his speech, Trump stated, "This system will provide great gains for America, not only in terms of security but also in terms of employment and industry."

Trump announced that General Goodline has been appointed to oversee the operational management of the Golden Dome. It was noted that Goodline, who has served in the defense sector for many years, is one of the highest-ranking commanders in the Space Force. Regarding Goodline's role in the project, Trump remarked, "There is no one more qualified for this task," and noted that the project would proceed quickly and effectively. Trump stated that "the way to be effective in defense is through offense when necessary," adding that the Golden Dome is not merely a passive system but will also provide strategic superiority through its early warning and deterrence capabilities.

"THREATS ARE INCREASING"

During the meeting, it was stated that Russia and China are developing hypersonic missiles, multiple-warhead ballistic missiles, and cruise missile technologies capable of bypassing radar systems, making the new system an urgent necessity. Regarding the defense system, it was noted, "The Golden Dome will be a shield not only against the threats of today but also against those of the coming decades."

"A DEFENSE PROJECT, NOT AN ARMS RACE"

Trump also responded to criticisms that the project could trigger a new "arms race." Trump said, "This system is a deterrent. We hope we never have to use it. However, we cannot remain unprepared in the face of threats." Trump also expressed that the system holds strategic importance in light of Russia's recent space-based weapons tests and its increasing military presence along European borders. Stating that he had a two-and-a-half-hour meeting with President Putin, Trump said, "We are monitoring the situation carefully, and we will take the necessary steps in a timely manner."

"AN INVESTMENT THAT WILL LAST FOR GENERATIONS"

Senators Dan Sullivan, Kevin Cramer, and Pete Sessions, who attended the press conference, said that the Golden Dome is a major investment not only for today's security but also for the protection of future generations. Sullivan stated, "Our defense system is no longer limited to the Earth; it is becoming a deterrent force in space as well."
