Trump announces he will run again in 2028
US President Donald Trump announced at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner that he would run for office again in the 2028 elections. While announcing that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will visit Washington next week, Trump also sparked controversy with his remarks about Democratic Senatör Chuck Schumer.
US President Donald Trump announced at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner held on Friday evening that he would run for office again.
WHAT DOES THE US CONSTITUTION SAY?
The 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution states, "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice."
On the other hand, there is a possibility that this rule could be changed with the support of two-thirds of both the House of Representatives and the Senate of the US Congress, or two-thirds of state legislatures.

In the same speech, Trump said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would come to the US next week.
TARGETED SCHUMER
Speaking at the event in Washington, Trump also targeted Democratic Senatör Chuck Schumer while providing information about Netanyahu's visit. Trump incorrectly referred to Schumer, who is Jewish, as having "become a Palestinian."
In his speech, Trump said, "I'm going to send him a nice Palestinian outfit tomorrow so he can greet Bibi Netanyahu when he comes to town next week." Muslim and Jewish advocacy organizations in the US have criticized Trump for using similar expressions for Schumer in the past, stating that these words were used as a "derogatory insult."
NETANYAHU TO MEET WITH TRUMP ON TUESDAY
Netanyahu's office had previously announced that the Israeli Prime Minister would travel to Washington on Monday and meet with Trump on Tuesday. The statement also noted that Netanyahu would attend the funeral of the late US Senatör Lindsey Graham.
It was reported that the meeting between Trump and Netanyahu would coincide with a period marking the fifth month of the war between the US and Israel against Iran.
SECURITY MEASURES INCREASED
Security measures were increased in the capital, Washington, ahead of the event. Police and security forces took extensive security precautions around the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, where the dinner was held.
The White House Correspondents' Association Dinner was traditionally held at the Washington Hilton. However, the organization was interrupted on April 25 after an assailant attempted to breach a security checkpoint and gunshots were heard, and it was later postponed to a later date and its venue was changed.
PROTEST IN FRONT OF THE HOTEL
There was also a protest around the hotel before the rescheduled dinner. A demonstrator expressed their reaction outside the event area with a banner they were carrying.
