Trump backtracks on 'Obama' post
U.S. President Trump shared a video on his official Truth Social account reiterating claims of irregularities regarding the 2020 elections. The end of the video featured images depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as monkeys.
While the first parts of the approximately one-minute video included technical claims regarding voting machines and vote-counting processes, the use of an image in the final second of the video depicting former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama as monkeys sparked a debate over racism.
The first 58 seconds of the shared video included claims that an inspection team in Michigan found a 4G wireless chip in a "DS200" type vote-counting machine, as well as charts showing "anomalies" allegedly occurring during vote counts in critical states such as Georgia and Michigan during the 2020 general elections.
Following the backlash, Trump removed the video post in which Barack and Michelle Obama were depicted as monkeys.
