U.S. President Donald Trump has canceled the tariffs he was set to impose on 8 European countries.
U.S. President Donald Trump shared the following statement on his social media account:
Based on a very productive meeting I had with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, we have established the framework for a future agreement regarding Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region.
This solution, if finalized, will be a great solution for the United States and all NATO Countries.
Based on this understanding, I will not be imposing the Tariffs that were scheduled to go into effect on February 1st.
Additional discussions are ongoing regarding the "Golden Dome" concerning Greenland. More information will be provided as the discussions progress.
Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and other officials as needed will be responsible for the negotiations; they will report directly to me.
