Trump: China offered a deal for the Strait of Hormuz

US President Donald Trump claimed that Chinese President Xi Jinping supports reaching a deal with Iran and has offered assistance in this regard, while also alleging that Beijing stated it would not provide military equipment support to Tehran.

US President Donald Trump made remarks regarding Iran while in China as part of an official visit, speaking to the US press. Speaking to the US-based news channel Fox News, Trump said that Chinese President Xi Jinping wants a deal to be reached with Iran and offered to help in this matter. Stating that Xi is in favor of the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, Trump said, "He said, 'If I can be of any help, I would like to help.' He wants to see the Strait of Hormuz opened."

"China will not provide military support to Iran"

Trump stated that China's military support for Iran was also on the agenda during the talks, claiming that Xi said they would not provide military equipment aid to Iran. The US President said, "That's a big statement. He stated that strongly today."

Touching upon China-Iran oil trade, Trump argued that Xi said they purchase large quantities of oil from Iran and wish to continue doing so.
