U.S. President Donald Trump made statements regarding the Iran agenda at an event held at the White House for Columbus Day. Arguing that Iran has lost its capacity to acquire nuclear weapons, Trump claimed that the war would end "very soon."
Stating that they cannot allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons, Trump said, "There is no such thing as them acquiring nuclear weapons anymore. We ended that. The main issue was that we could not allow a country run by people with a high propensity for violence to acquire nuclear weapons, and they will not have those weapons."
Touching on fuel prices in the country ahead of the Congressional midterm elections to be held on November 3, Trump said that gasoline prices in the U.S. would decline rapidly after the war with Iran ends. Trump used the expression, "At one point, prices had dropped to around $1.95, and they will fall back to those levels again."
At the event, Trump also addressed the death sentence handed down to Nidal Hasan, who was convicted of killing 13 people at the Fort Hood base in Texas in 2009. Stating that the execution would be carried out by firing squad, Trump said of Hasan, "He deserves it. He killed and wounded a lot of people, he is a total maniac."
