Trump confirms cancellation of US delegation's visit to Pakistan

US President Donald Trump has confirmed reports in the national press that he canceled the schedule of a US delegation that was set to travel to Pakistan to hold talks with Iran.

In a written statement on his social media account regarding the visit to the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, by Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, Trump said, "I have canceled the planned trip for my representatives to go to Islamabad, Pakistan, to meet with the Iranians. There is too much waste of work and time in the trip."

Continuing his remarks regarding "divisions" within the Iranian administration, Trump stated, "Also, there is great internal strife and chaos within their 'leadership'.

No one, including themselves, knows who is in charge. Furthermore, we hold all the cards, and they have no leverage. If they want to talk, all they have to do is call us," he added.

Araghchi had left Islamabad

Following the departure of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who had arrived in Pakistan yesterday evening for high-level talks, and his accompanying delegation from the country in the last few hours, the US press had claimed that Trump had canceled the visit in question.
