Trump criticizes US government shutdown

Tensions continue in the US over the government shutdown. US President Donald Trump stated that due to the shutdown, US soldiers are facing the risk of not receiving their salary payments on October 15.

In a statement on his social media account, Trump targeted US Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, saying, "Schumer recently said that 'everything is getting better by the day' in his radical left shutdown. I disagree. If we do not take action, our soldiers will not receive the salaries they are entitled to on October 15 because of 'leader' Schumer and the Democrats.

That is why, using my authority as Commander-in-Chief, I am tasking US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth with ensuring that our soldiers' salaries are paid by utilizing all possible resources.

I will not allow the Democrats to hold our military and the entire security of our country hostage with this dangerous government shutdown activity.

The radical left Democrats must open the government immediately. Then we can work together to address healthcare and many other issues they want to dismantle," he said.

It was noted that Trump used the term "US Department of War" for the US Department of Defense, which he intends to rename. Trump signed an executive order last month proposing this change. However, the decision still requires the approval of the US Congress for the change to officially take effect.
