US President Donald Trump has spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The statement made by US President Donald Trump regarding the call is as follows:
"I just had a long and extremely productive phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. We discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, energy, artificial intelligence, the strength of the dollar, and many other topics. But first and foremost, as we both agree, we want to stop the millions of deaths occurring in the war between Russia and Ukraine.
We agreed to work very closely together, including visiting each other's countries. I have asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to lead negotiations that I strongly believe will be successful. Millions of people have died in a war that would not have happened if I were President, but it did happen, so the war needs to end."
TRUMP TO VISIT RUSSIA
In a statement from the Kremlin regarding the Putin-Trump call, it was reported that the conversation lasted 1.5 hours. The statement indicated that Russian President Vladimir Putin invited US President Donald Trump to Russia and that Trump accepted the invitation.
