Trump: Iran is hypocritical

US President Donald Trump made a statement regarding the negotiation impasse between Iran and the US. Following Iran's denial of reports that negotiations would begin, Trump said, "The Iranian leadership is incredibly hypocritical. They are requesting meetings, some might call it 'begging.' Talks are starting, more are planned for the near future, and then they openly and proudly say they are not holding any talks, that nothing is being discussed, and that they are only talking to Oman."

"The Strait is completely under US control"

Touching on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, Trump said, "Then they spout their usual empty rhetoric, saying they will manage the Strait of Hormuz. However, the strait is already completely under US control. Nothing can reach Iran unless we want it to, and nothing will reach them unless an agreement or total surrender is achieved."

"We are actually holding talks to find a solution to a problem they caused themselves"

Trump stated, "Whether Iran wants to admit it or not, we are actually holding talks to find a solution to a problem they have caused themselves for decades. It is very simple: Iran will never have a nuclear weapon."

Iran had denied Trump

Trump had stated that he suspended planned attacks against Iran on the condition of reaching an agreement involving the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's nuclear program, and had said that talks would begin today. Trump also stated that if Iran does not reach an agreement, they could restart the attacks at any time. Responding to Trump's statements, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said, "We have no plans to host a delegation or be a guest of another country within the scope of peace negotiations."
