U.S. President Donald Trump has made a striking promise ahead of the midterm elections to be held on November 3. Trump announced that if Republicans win a majority in the House of Representatives and the Senate, he will provide a $5,000 payment to all adult citizens in the country.
Addressing voters on his social media account, Trump argued that the payment could be financed by revenues generated from customs duties and economic growth. Trump stated, "If Republicans win the House and Senate in the 2026 Midterm Elections, I will give $5,000 to every adult citizen in the U.S."
Trump claimed that the economy remains strong under Republican leadership and asserted that only he could fulfill this promise. Arguing that Democrats would be unable to make a similar payment, Trump contended that if Democrats come to power, taxes would rise and the economy would suffer.
Using harsh language in his statement, Trump also suggested that if Democrats win, a depression similar to the 1929 economic collapse could occur. He said that if Republicans win, citizens would have $5,000 in their pockets and the country would achieve economic success.
Trump also noted that he recently made a $1,776 payment to all military personnel, stating that he could take a similar step again. Describing the plan as a "Trump dividend" with a scale of approximately $1 trillion, Trump also claimed that $21 trillion in investments had been made in the country over the last 15 months.
