U.S. President Donald Trump targeted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the process of ending the Russia-Ukraine war. Trump claimed that Russia is more willing to seek an agreement with Moscow, while Ukraine is acting more hesitant.
Speaking to reporters as he left the White House for a campaign rally in Kansas, Trump said he "really wants" the war to end. Stating that they are conducting negotiations with Moscow for this purpose, Trump expressed that he has a good dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Criticizing Zelensky's stance in the negotiation process, Trump said, "Maybe it is time for Zelensky to hand over the negotiations to someone else."
When reminded that Zelensky was uncomfortable with the diesel deal made with Russia and had said that Trump was "standing on the wrong side of history," the U.S. President responded sharply.
Zelensky doesn't know what he's talking about. He should have resolved this war a long time ago. If he had listened to me, he would have made a good deal a long time ago, and 1 million people would still be living in his country.
Trump said they are in active contact with Putin regarding Ukraine but that he does not want to damage the negotiation process by going into details.
MESSAGE ON IRAN AND CHINA
The U.S. President stated that he also has a good dialogue with Putin on the subject of Iran. Trump said, "Putin is not touching Iran, and that is a good thing, because we are attacking Iran very hard economically and militarily."
Arguing that China is also acting "reasonably" regarding both Iran and Ukraine, Trump said that Russia and China are keeping their support for Iran limited when they could have given more. Trump expressed that he sees this as a "positive development."
Trump also stated that he is open to a trilateral meeting with Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to China in November. "If Putin and Xi want to come together in a trilateral meeting, I would like to do that in China," he said.
Touching on the interruption in the internet service provided by Starlink to the Ukrainian army, Trump noted that he does not know who is responsible but wants to find out.
