U.S. President Donald Trump, in his assessment of the events in France, argued that the incidents were not related to student movements or schools, and that the core issue was immigration.
Responding to reporters' questions while leaving the White House to attend a campaign rally in Kansas, Trump described the situation in France as "really very sad."
"I TOLD MACRON 'CLOSE YOUR BORDERS'"
Trump said, "The problem is immigration, and I told President Macron, 'Close your borders.' The situation in France is really very sad. What is happening in France is about immigration, not about schools or anything else."
Claiming that France has not closed its borders and that immigrants are arriving from many parts of the world, Trump said he had warned Emmanuel Macron about this during their first meeting.
"IT IS VERY DIFFICULT FOR FRANCE TO RETURN TO ITS FORMER STATE"
Trump stated, "When I first met Macron, I said, 'Close your borders or you will ruin your country.' We closed our borders, they did not. Now they have ruined their country. It is very difficult for France to return to its former state."
"PARIS WILL VERY SOON BE A MUSLIM CITY"
Arguing that the number of immigrants in Paris is too high, Trump said, "Paris will very soon be a Muslim city." Trump also stated that the Macron administration should have listened to him regarding border security.
