Trump speaks at the opening of Alcatraz, where illegal immigrants will be held

US President Donald Trump attended the opening of the Alcatraz Immigrant Detention Center, built on an abandoned airport runway in southwestern Florida. Trump, who inaugurated the detention center where illegal immigrants will be held, held a press conference after his inspection of Alcatraz. Trump stated, "You can only leave this center, surrounded by swamps, by being deported."

Trump noted that the Biden administration spent hundreds of millions of dollars on immigrants placed in hotels in New York using Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds, saying, "We took those funds and built this structure. They are putting people in $300-a-night rooms; we built this facility."

Trump announced that the number of illegal entries at the US-Mexico border in May was recorded as "zero." Evaluating this situation by saying, "Even the radical leftists say zero," Trump added, "I was surprised by the number myself. However, this shows how effective the steps we have taken are."

"THE COST OF AN IMMIGRANT IS 70 THOUSAND DOLLARS"

Trump stated that the cost of illegal immigrants to public services has reached massive proportions, saying, "The cost of each immigrant to the state is around 70 thousand dollars. We spend 78 billion dollars a year just on translation services. This is a scandal."

"THE SYRIAN PEOPLE ARE SHOUTING TRUMP"

Regarding the lifting of economic sanctions on Syria, Trump said, "I had to do this for these people to survive. Now they are waving U.S. flags in the streets, shouting 'Trump, Trump'."

Responding to environmental criticisms, Trump and DeSantis noted that the facility was built on a previously developed airport. "We built this facility on a concrete runway. The alligators are still here. No harm was done to nature," Trump said, adding, "This is not a place to be feared, but an ideal deterrent for criminals."

Trump stated that the bill to provide funding for 3,000 Border Patrol agents and 10,000 ICE agents has passed the Senate and that he believes it will also pass the House of Representatives. U.S. President Trump remarked, "This law is vital not just for border security, but for the sovereignty of the United States."

Criticizing environmental regulations from the Biden era and reporting that water restrictions on washing machines, showers, and faucets have been lifted, Donald Trump said, "People couldn't even take a shower. We put an end to this nonsense."

Trump stated that not only newly arrived illegal immigrants but also those who have been in the U.S. for years and have committed crimes will be deported, saying, "These people are pushing people onto tracks in the subway and stabbing them in the streets. We must now clear them out of here as well."

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stated that thanks to the 287(g) authority program, states working in partnership with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are playing a key role in border security. "Now, not only federal but also state law enforcement are involved in deportation proceedings. As Florida, we are leading," said DeSantis, noting that this facility, which was established in just 8 days, should be taken as a model.

"BUILT IN EIGHT DAYS"

Florida Division of Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie provided information about the facility's construction process. The detention center, which draws attention with its wind-resistant structure, has a capacity of 3,000 people. It includes infrastructure such as logistics areas for 1,000 personnel, a health facility, a pharmacy, 24/7 security systems, a laundry, and direct access to an airport runway.

"TRIED TO EAT HIMSELF"

ICE special agents stated that among those deported were individuals with mental illnesses and those involved in serious crimes. An ICE official said, "One person we detained tried to eat himself on the plane. We have to isolate them from society."

"THERE IS A CHANCE FOR LEGAL RETURN"

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem stated that immigrants who return voluntarily via the CBP Home application might have a chance to return to the US through legal channels in the future. She declared, "Either you return of your own free will, or you will be deported forever."
