Trump spoke with Putin by phone ahead of Zelensky meeting

US President Donald Trump will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House tomorrow.

The US press reported that Trump held a phone call today with Russian President Vladimir Putin ahead of his meeting with Zelensky at the White House tomorrow.

The White House announced that Trump held a conversation with Putin. In a statement released after the meeting, which lasted over two hours, it was stated that a constructive conversation took place.

Regarding the call, Trump stated, "Following meetings between high-level officials, we will meet with Putin in Budapest." Trump also announced that they discussed commercial activities that would begin after the end of the Ukraine-Russia war.

The US press, which reported that Trump and Zelensky are expected to discuss the possibility of the US selling Tomahawk long-range missiles to Ukraine during their meeting at the White House, claimed that Trump could use the Tomahawk missiles as leverage in his conversation with Putin to initiate serious peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.
