Trump terminates Director Chopra

According to a report by the Associated Press citing an official with knowledge of the matter, an email was sent to Chopra from the White House.

Chopra, who learned of his termination through this email, is known as a close ally of Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren, who is recognized for her criticism of Trump's policies.

Chopra, who served as a member of the Federal Trade Commission during Trump's first presidential term, was legally required to remain as CFPB Director for 5 years. However, Chopra had previously stated that he would step down from his position if Trump requested it.

Since taking office on January 20, U.S. President Trump has terminated the employment of many individuals across various federal agencies, most notably the Department of Justice.

Democrats in Congress have criticized the fact that the individuals Trump has dismissed include figures such as Special Counsel Jack Smith, who previously led the investigation against him.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt had emphasized that as the head of the executive branch, U.S. President Trump has the authority to remove anyone within the executive branch from office, and that the President will not work with someone he does not want.
