Trump threatens European countries with 100 percent customs duty
US President Donald Trump has announced that if European countries, which are preparing to implement digital services taxes on US-based companies, put these practices into effect, a 100 percent customs duty will be applied to all products they send to the US.
Economic and trade disputes between the US and European countries continue.
US President Donald Trump, in a statement on his social media account, noted that many European countries are considering implementing digital services taxes on US-based companies and issued stern warnings regarding this situation.
Stating that some countries are very close to implementing the aforementioned practice, Trump said that a 100 percent customs duty would be applied to all products sent to the US by any country that implements this tax.
Trump stated, "This tariff will be on top of all trade agreements that have been made, entered into force, signed, or have not yet entered into force with the country in question."
Trump emphasized that if countries implement the digital services tax, the 100 percent customs duty will be applied immediately.
