Trump: We will not seek a declaration of war
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he does not plan to request a declaration of war from Congress for attacks against drug cartels, saying, "We will kill the people who bring drugs into our country."
Trump, at a press conference at the White House, responded to the question, "If you are declaring war on these cartels and it is likely that Congress would approve this process, why are you not requesting a declaration of war (from Congress)?"
Indicating that he does not plan to seek Congressional approval for attacks against cartels, Trump said, "I don't think we'll be asking for a declaration of war. We will kill the people who bring drugs into our country. We will kill them."
Trump said, "Now it's coming by land (drugs). Land is next," adding that Congress could be informed about a potential ground attack.
