Trump: Zelensky and Putin do not need to be in the same room to sign a deal

When asked if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin need to be in the same room to sign a deal, U.S. President Donald Trump replied, "It depends. They don't have to be in the same room. They can do it another way. It's hard for them to be in the same room. I don't care how it's done."

Trump: Zelensky and Putin do not need to be in the same room to sign a deal

U.S. President Donald Trump answered questions from reporters at the White House. When asked about the possibility that the economic conditions causing protests in France could also affect the U.S., Trump said, "We are experiencing growth that has never been seen in the history of the country. We are currently growing more than any other country in the world. There is no growth in France. It is the exact opposite. The reason for this is that social programs are too heavy. No matter what you do, it is not enough."

Arguing that what is happening in France is an immigration problem, Trump said, "There are people flocking to France. In our country, as it was during the (former President) Biden era, these were not checked. Their backgrounds were not investigated. We don't do it that way. We have removed most of them from the country and we continue to remove more. We have removed the worst ones. There are still some people we are after. Europe needs to change this attitude. Otherwise, there will be nothing left called Europe," he stated.

Regarding the possibility of supporting far-right candidate Marine Le Pen in the presidential election to be held in France next year, Trump said, "I don't know her, but I think she has been treated very badly."

"If it goes on like this, there will soon be nothing left called Europe"

Stating that Europe is not helping the U.S. on the issue of Iran but is "acting kind enough to give Greenland to the U.S.," Trump said, "We bought Greenland. Honestly, our relations with Europe are great. But they need to get their act together. Otherwise, there will be no Europe left. There won't even be a Europe we can build a friendship with. Look at what is happening in France. I have been dealing with these things for a long time and I watch other countries too. I have never seen anything like this. This is not a small uprising. It is a full-blown revolution and it is continuing. We want to help, we want to be with them. But if it goes on like this, there will soon be nothing left called Europe," he said.

Saying that his roots extend to Europe and that he loves Europe, Trump said, "They need to deport them. They need to get out. Otherwise, there will be nothing left called the European Union," he spoke.

Trump said, "You have to remove the rioters from the country. This situation cannot be solved just by saying 'We will not take any more people.' They continue to take them. Look at Spain. Just a few weeks ago, over a hundred thousand people flocked into the country in a few minutes. They are doing nothing. I don't even know where they live. This is a crazy situation," he said.

"Russia has unlimited human resources and is advancing without stopping"

When asked about the state of the peace process in Ukraine following the contacts held today in Oslo, Norway, with the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Trump's Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump said, "I think Russia wants to finish this. Russia is a huge machine and it is constantly advancing. They have captured a very large piece of land. You can say that Ukraine is in a good or bad situation, but the land Russia has captured is growing every week. Russia has unlimited human resources and is advancing without stopping," he stated.

"We want Zelensky to make a deal"

Emphasizing that Russia is a very large country despite suffering heavy losses in the war, Trump said that on the other hand, Ukraine is not, and it must end this war. Trump said, "Zelensky needs to want to end this war. If he doesn't want to, I think it will be very bad. We have given a tremendous amount of aid to Ukraine, but in return, we have received nothing but rising diesel prices. We have probably given more money to Ukraine than almost anyone else. Hundreds of billions of dollars. We got nothing in return. American taxpayers are tired of this. We want Zelensky to make a deal," he stated.

Arguing that Zelensky was in a position to make a good deal during their meeting in the Oval Office two years ago, Trump said, "I don't think his people can take much more of this. They are waging a war. Last month, both sides lost a total of 32,000 people," he said.

Adding that the U.S. and Europe have spent a fortune for Ukraine and that Europe is now tired, Trump said, "They are really tired. If they don't make a deal, I think the situation will get worse and worse. Russia is a very large country. It has a lot of people. They have a large human resource they can utilize. Ukraine does not have such a human resource. It is time to make a deal now," he said.

Attributing Russia's failure to take Ukraine within four hours to a Russian general "being stupid" by driving tanks onto farmland instead of advancing at maximum speed on the highway, Trump said, "They got stuck in the mud. It was like a swamp. The night before, there had been the heaviest rainfall in the last 10 years. The ground was completely wet. Most people don't remember, but I remember. That's what war is. You never know what will happen. They got stranded and the Ukrainians used the Javelin anti-tank weapons I gave them," he said.

"Zelensky and Putin do not need to be in the same room to sign a deal"

When asked if Ukrainian President Zelensky and Russian President Putin need to be in the same room to sign a deal, Trump replied, "It depends. They don't have to be in the same room. They can do it another way. It's hard for them to be in the same room. I don't care how it's done. I don't want to see 32,000, 25,000 people dying every month," he answered.

In response to requests for details regarding the trade deal planned with India, Trump said, "We are quite close to a deal. It will be a different kind of deal than what we have done before. I think it's tremendous," he said.

When asked to comment on data suggesting that voters in the U.S., especially in rural areas, are not satisfied with the state of the economy, Trump answered this question by stating that the economic situation will improve as soon as the Iran war ends. Trump said, "We have tremendous support. When people complain about fuel prices, even if it sounds simple, what people themselves express is; 'This is a big price, but it is actually a small price to pay to prevent Iran from having a nuclear weapon.' And they will never have a nuclear weapon," he spoke.

Trump said they could withdraw from Iran immediately, but they want to be sure that the same thing will not happen again in five or ten years.
