Trump's efforts to reach a deal with China continue: He sets a date

Trade negotiations between the US and China are ongoing. In a post on his Truth Social account, US President Donald Trump announced that a new meeting between the two countries will take place next Monday.

In his post, Trump stated, "I am pleased to announce that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer will hold a meeting with Chinese representatives in London on Monday, June 9, regarding a trade agreement. The meeting will go very well."

TRUMP HAD SPOKEN WITH XI

The decision for the meeting came one day after US President Donald Trump held a phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping during weeks of ongoing trade tensions.

Following a long standoff, the US reduced the customs duty it imposed on China from 145 percent to 30 percent last month. China, in turn, lowered the tariff rate it applied to US goods from 125 percent to 10 percent.
