Trump's first rally after assassination attempt: Security measures draw attention

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump held his first rally in the US since the assassination attempt he survived in Pennsylvania on July 13.

Following the attack, which raised questions about lapses in Secret Service protection, the security measures at Trump's North Carolina rally drew attention. Trump delivered his speech from behind meters-wide bulletproof glass installed on the stage.

The meters-wide glass installed on the stage protected the entire podium against any potential attack.

Meanwhile, snipers were positioned on the roofs of buildings surrounding the stage.

ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT ON TRUMP

Former US President Donald Trump was targeted in an armed attack while addressing supporters at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13. One person attending the rally was killed and two others were injured, while the US Secret Service announced that the attacker had been neutralized.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) defined the attack as an assassination attempt and, following investigations, announced that the individual who carried out the attempt and was killed at the scene was 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

US Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who faced criticism after former US President Donald Trump was shot during a campaign rally, resigned on July 23.

Acting Director Ronald Rowe, who succeeded Cheatle, testified before a Senate committee on July 30 regarding the assassination attempt and stated that he could not "defend" why the roof from which the attempt on Trump was carried out had not been secured.
